Our youth and adult education programs are a key component of The Greening's environmental work.
Youth Education
TreeKeepers Kids and The Greening's Science Academy help strengthen kids' science skills and provide opportunities for kids to experience nature first-hand using the outdoors as their laboratory. Each summer, Camp Greening provides thousands of Detroit children new experiences exploring nature. Meanwhile, our Nutrition Education program teaches kids how to make wise food choices while exposing them to a variety of fruits and vegetables and providing them with first hand knowledge that anything you've grown yourself is worth eating!
Adult Education
For adults, we offer our Family Landscape Program, Garden Resource Program workshops, and our Get Out and Green program where we train individuals to serve as community green leaders in neighborhoods throughout the city. We host tours and symposiums, and provide specialists to speak to community groups, educators and municipalities on a range of topics. And our consulting services program allows folks in the community to talk to any of our staff regarding a variety of topics requiring expertise. For instance, our "Ask the Forester" program has provided individuals with priceless information about everything from tree health to appropriate plant species.
