Education > Adult Education

The Greening's adult education programming is broad in its outreach, providing general information regarding the need to revitalize our environment and specific techniques for greening neighborhoods.

Get Out and Green

Through The Get Out and Green program The Greening of Detroit trains adults to serve as community green leaders in neighborhoods throughout the city. Participants receive special training to learn how to coordinate green projects in their own neighborhood and are provided with the resources to host their own community planting events.

Family Landscape Program

Our Family Landscape Program presents families moving into newly built housing, with the opportunity to participate in workshops to gain skills landscape design, installation and maintenance. At the conclusion of the course, participants receive plant materials and professional guidance to landscape their new homes.

Garden Resource Program Workshops

The Garden Resource Program Collaborative sponsors workshops each year to provide individual urban gardeners with training in key topics ranging from greenhouses to irrigation. Gardeners have the opportunity to attend workshops in the Urban Gardener Education Series each year as well as educational outings or "fieldtrips" designed to strengthen their urban agriculture skills and outreach.
