The Greening of Detroit hosts tree planting events every weekend during the spring and fall. With the collaborative partnership of hundreds of community groups and the support of thousands of volunteers from throughout the region, The Greening hosts plantings in neighborhoods in Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck. Trees are planted in school yards, along neighborhood streets and in community parks. Individual plantings range from 10 to 180 trees. Trees for these plantings are often raised in neighborhood tree nurseries established by The Greening and maintained by our community partners.
